We are pleased to advise that we have been awarded a grant to renovate the bus shelter on the Cottingham Road.

The building was paid for by public subscription and constructed in 1953 to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation.

Sadly in recent years it has fallen into disrepair and is a magnet for litter, graffiti and even a public toilet!

We plan to seal up the current doorway and move the date stone to sit above it, then open up the front section and add a bench. With any remaining funds we hope to relocate some boards depicting the history of the village to the back wall.

Work is scheduled to commence in the coming months.

We will be holding our annual bonfire night celebrations behind the Village Hall on Sunday 5th November. The bonfire will be lit at 6.30pm. Parking is limited- please be mindful that it is a busy main road.

Suggested donation of £5 per family to cover costs.

Ann Redshaw’s book ‘Rockingham, the Village under the Castle’ was recently awarded ‘Highly Commended’ in the Northamptonshire Heritage Forum’s Best Book awards.
